Our friend, Whitney, has THE BEST recipe for canning homemade apple pie filling, so she came over one morning and helped us can our own. It was lots of fun to hang out with her and a couple of her kids while we did the pie filling. After we finished that, I went out and picked the grapes we grew. This was the first year we got fruit off of our one, little grape vine - it was awesome! We got 11 quarts of grape juice, I was so excited.
New in October is David's little puppy, Piper. Yes, we have 4 dogs....I don't know what we're thinking. But look how cute she is! She's a cocker/dachsund mix and she is crazy. :)
Kelani had a choir concert for her 9th grade choir at Fairmont (no puking students during the performance this year - but I couldn't stop laughing everytime I saw this one, older guy at the concert. I fondly named him 'Pocahontas' due to his beautiful, women's cut, woven shirt and fitted jeans - ewww). Kelani is in the "UU" row, fourth one down.
David turned 18 on the 29th! Freaky, huh?! Grandma and Grandpa came up on Friday and brought Lanie and Maddy to party with us. :) Actually, they came to bring us a cabinet that Grandpa built for us, so we made it a party. While they were here we went to a fun Chinese restaurant with Grandma Jack to have David's birthday dinner, then we watched his b-day present "Captain America" that night.
The next morning Grandma made her ever-popular donuts for breakfast - David's favorite. They were so good! It was fun to have them all here that weekend.
Satuday night Kelani had a Halloween party at Grandma Jack's house. She was inspired to have a party there after our cousin's wedding in August was so much fun. So we spent a bunch of time getting it all set up. As soon as Grandma Jack heard that Kelani wanted to have a party, she started buying Halloween decorations. She's been buying stuff since August so you can imagine how many awesome decorations we had that night.
Grandma was so excited about the party and she made TONS of treats for Nani to set out. This is only a small sample of the things there were to eat. Yum!
The yard/barn looked awesome! It was a Halloween wonderland. There were ghost and eyeball lights hanging in trees, pumpkins, cornstalks with big glittery spiders in them, and all kinds of noise makers and lights all over. It was so cool. Nani looks excited!
Our aunt came with a couple of her granddaughters (our second cousins) to check out the party. Kelani assigned me the job of hiding behind a little brick wall and jumping out at her friends as they got to the party. I was only too happy to oblige! :) Of course, these are all a bunch of jr.high kids, so they tried to act brave - but some of them just couldn't help reacting when I jumped up and yelled at them! My little cousin, Ronnie, wanted to help so she took a couple flashlights and stood where I could see her from where I was behind the wall. Anytime people would start to get close to where I was, she waved the flashlights all around as the signal that a victim was approaching. What fun!
Doesn't the barn look cool?!
Well, there are more stories that need to be told, but I'll just have to save them for another post!
Happy October!
