This is a link from one of the new Mormon Messages so lots of you have probably already seen this. But I just watched it, and with a lot of things that have been going on for me lately, it just kind of seemed to fit.
Confession: I definitely live in the past and look back all the time. But why not? How we were in the past is pretty much what has made us who we are right now, right? So by looking back and seeing what has made us who we are today, I think it can help us decide how to be in the future, too. The trick is learning from the past but not getting stuck in it. Somethings were only supposed to happen back then and now we need to be ready to keep learning, even if it's different from how we learned the first time; it all kind of builds on each other. It's hard for me to keep moving forward to something new when what I already have is just fine with me. But as the guy in this video says, maybe the Lord has something even better planned for us, we just have to have faith.
This is pretty hard for me to actually apply to myself, but as long as we have faith, everything will be fine! My past has shaped me into my present so I'll never just forget it like it isn't important, IT IS!! I just have to be willing to keep learning in new ways, too. As they say, "There's no growth in comfort and no comfort in growth." Too true! I hope this video gives you all a little more courage to do whatever you feel prompted to do, no matter how hard it is! Happy New Year!
