Some inspiration for your day

Ok, today I'm almost copying the idea of this post from one my cousin did on her blog (sorry, Kim, yours was just so good that it inspired me! :)
Kim did a lovely review after having read this book -

It sounded so good that I decided it was one I wanted to check out for myself. It's the story of a husband and wife who were in an airplane accident in 2008 (you might already know about them - I just wasn't the most observant person back then.....) and it tells about the almost impossible journey of their recovery.
This book is written by the wife, Stephanie, and she goes through all the details of their lives starting back with how she and her husband met, got married, and had their family - such a normal life for them up until the plane accident.
Her husband was injured but able to function a lot sooner than Stephanie was. They were both burned badly, but Stephanie had been stuck inside of the burning airplane longer and was covered in third degree burns.
They had four little kids at that point and so a lot of her struggle was tied in with how much she wanted to still be a mom and the guilt she felt in not being able to care for her family the way she'd always wanted to.
So many amazing spiritual experiences came to her as she learned how to accept this un-planned on turn of events and it is such an incredible story and good reminder of how to find joy and have faith
 no matter what!

What's really mind boggling is that this all happened just 5 years ago, which means that she's still dealing with so many after effects and challenges. In this book she explains some of the process of all the skin grafting and healing that has to happen as they care for her burned skin. It truly is a miracle to know that it's even possible, but what a process!!
In this book she also mentions that Elder Holland met with some of her family during the first few months after the accident. Stephanie was in a coma for about 3 months because of the intense pain she was in, and during that time was when Elder Holland had a special meeting with her family. According to this book, he had her and her situation in mind as he prepared his talk for General Conference of Oct. 2008 "The Ministry of Angels". (if you want to read it, click on the name of the talk!) It's pretty great, of course! :)

I just found this a little bit ago and loved getting to see her "in person" in the Mormon Message they made about her. It's really neat, so if you want to hear her story in a nutshell and get to see how she's doing as she continues to make such an amazing recovery - click here

Anyway, I know we each have things that "click" with us depending on who we are and what we want in our lives, but I hope it's something that adds some hope to your life.
The details of her recovery are sometimes hard to hear about, but as you go through it with her, you also learn about faith and endurance.
One of the things that I really enjoyed and connected to as I read this was her story of what she always wanted out of life. Her ultimate goal was always to be a wife and mother and her own story of how it all came to be was pretty fun to hear about. That's another reason why that Mormon Message was so neat to see. Even after all she had to go through, she was able to get to the point that she came home and still got to be a mom and had learned how to appreciate the "little" things even more.
So, there you have it!
If you like to read, then try this out.
Pretty amazing!

I'm so glad you posted this! I'm not even angry that you copied me ;) cause this book was SO darn good! I was way glad to see that you actually read it (I really didn't think anyone would...). Anyhow...if you are feeling stalkerish, she also has a blog that is a good read (http://nieniedialogues.com/). And thanks for posting Elder Holland's talk, I was wondering about that :)
