Summer has been rather flighty and somedays it feels like it's finally here and then the next day it's totally rainy and cold again. I caught David on one of those golden days, out on the tramp soaking up some sun and taking a nap. It's got to get here eventually, right?!
We've had some fun performances over the last few weeks. IDI got to perform at the Boise Farmer's Market a couple Saturday's ago and it was awesome!!
We danced about three different times in the space of a few hours, and in between performances we got to go explore the market.
I was starving that morning (that's what happens when you choose sleep over breakfast) and everywhere we went it smelled like food...good food! One of the dance families had a homemade toffee booth set up down there so we got some tasty samples.
And afterwords I got to go out to eat with Ingrams, so it was all worth it!
We thought it was so cool that we could walk out in the middle of what are usually busy intersections downtown, but that had been blocked off for the market, so I had to take a picture of some of us in the middle of the intersection!
Last week we had the annual Boise Cloggers Spring Show in the front yard of our clogging teacher's house. It always turns out really fun! It's a potluck for the dancers and their family and friends, then after we eat we all perform the dances we've learned over the past year. The weather was really nice and we had a fun crowd.
This dance is called, "Sweet" and it's sooo fast, and check out the sparkly costumes. :) In case it's hard to find us, I'm the one in the front on the end, and Mom is next to the guy in the back.
We've been Irish dancing and clogging for about 6 1/2 years and it's awesome to look back and remember all the cool things we've been able to be involved in with these groups!! We're so lucky!
Here's poor Bishop Dad trying to get some scripture reading in! :) He just couldn't make it.
(As a side note, he fell asleep reading all the time, even before the new calling).
Even with the mood swings in the weather I've been able to get some yard work in! I love it when the weather cooperates and things can start being planted and the yard gets all spruced up. This little corner has hosted several different ideas of mine through the last few years. But every year I end up trying something different. This time around I decided just to let it be a little flower garden. Some of those flowers are Moms that she wants to plant in the front yard and hasn't gotten to yet, but they add lots of pretty colors to the corner so it's all good!
This year we've got tomatoes, potatoes, lettuce, cabbage, beets, cucumber, zucchini and onions going. I sure hope they'll make it since somedays they get tons of sun, and other days they end up practically
water-logged. But we'll see how it turns out; if nothing else, it's just good to be out there in the garden!
Besides all that there's just lots of other things going on:
Grandpa started chemo earlier this week and so far he's doing good!
School is almost out for Nani and David, and I'm about to start a class at a community college here (yikes!)
Malia is still loving her job at the pet hotel at Petsmart.
Mom and Dad are great and just trying to keep up with everything going on.
So anyway, life is good here at the funny farm and we're just glad to have each other through all of it!
Funny quote by David: The other night we tried the Brazillian restaurant "Tucanos" and Dad kept saying how "I bet this is authentic Brazillian..." meat, or recipes, or thing like that.
So at one point, as he went to take a drink, David grabs the straw out of his cup and says, "Guys look, I bet this is a real Brazillian straw!"
That's why we keep him around! :)
