A week not for the weak

St.Patrick's Day has officially happened, and it's been another great year!! This week alone, the Irish dance group I'm in pulled off about 27 performances, most of which run for about half an hour in length! We danced Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, and Saturday and we had a blast!! I guess I'm still a little tired because the more I try to think of what to say about all of it, the harder it gets to think of anything.
And maybe alot of the stories are the: "I guess you had to be there" kind that are too hard to explain. Then again, sometimes words just aren't enough to convey what it feels like to go from one performance to another, several times over in a day, and a week, and still find the energy to keep going.
But the love of dancing is apparently enough to keep us going, because everyone did! And after a week like this, dancers come away being such better friends and learning all kinds of meanings to the word "teamwork". We were split into 3 groups for the actual day, since we had so much ground to cover, but luckily we got to combine with the groups throughout the day as we danced at retirement centers, schools, the Capitol, the VFW, and assisted living centers.
I heard a story from one of the groups, that during a performance, one of the dancers got so tired that she feel asleep "backstage" and had to be woken up when it was her turn to dance! But it's so worth it once you see how much the people you're performing for enjoy it; or when you leave the school you just danced at and happen to notice a line of little kids all testing their skills as they copy what they just watched the group do.
We also got to dance for the half-time show at the Stampede basketball game.
Check it out!

(Mom and I are both in the group on the left, and even got to be partners for most of the dance!)
Anyway, it's pretty awesome that even though this is only my 6th year to perform as an Irish dancer, it feels like something that is so much more than that. Despite nerves, sore muscles, or cramping arches, and everything like that, I would do it again (and plan on it)!!
To end this post, and this week of adventure,  the lines from a funny song come to mind:
"Are we human, or are we dancers?"

(This is just a few of us at one of my favorite places to dance. Mom was sick though, and couldn't come, which was a downer. This was our last performance on Saturday night, but do we look like we've had enough?!)
