Dad would walk ahead of us and make tracks for those of us who were barefoot to follow in, since the dirt was hard until someone stepped in it. Pretty soon all the kids tried to follow. Dillon didn't always have the best of luck with it though. Every so often Dad would take extra big steps, just to tease the kids. But Dillon tried to match the steps anyway, and ended up in almost full splits, got stuck like that for a minute, then tipped over and landed with his face in the dirt.

When we little, we'd walk to the back of the field and pick asparagus, or just go for an adventure. We called it "The Great Valley", from the movie "The Land Before Time".
